Lazy Nigeria You

This month’s series will be centered on laziness. As a Christian, you must be a person of value, and in whatever you do you need to make progress. Progress however does not come through laziness. On the flipside, when you do not make progress, frustration sets in. Laziness will deprive you from reaching the fullness of your God ordained destiny. The Bible in Prov 4:18 says â€œThe path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”

See the truth is, your destiny is so great that the actualization of it will impact the nation and a lot of people around you. There are a lot of people seeking employment that you will have to employ as your destiny blossoms. For some of us, the actualization of our destiny will have a major impact on Nigeria because God has packaged something in us that the world needs. Below are some signs that tell you, you may be lazy

  • Making Excuses: Constantly making excuses is a major habit of lazy people. It is impossible to make excuses and make progress at the same time. In Proverbs 26:13 the bible shows a typical example of man with excuses, it says “The slothful man saith, there is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets”. The slothful man was prepared to give excuses at the slightest chance. The world does not need to hear all the excuses you have to give, excuses do not produce results. All excuse makers are people who would have done something great with their gift, but they stayed on making excuses.

  • The other reason is blaming other people for the outcome of your life. It is a lazy man’s habit to blame other people for the outcome of his life and not take responsibility for them. Despite the difficult situations that successful people experience, they go all out to make things work, knowing that they are solely responsible for their actions. Go all out with what you do, think beyond your environment, package what you do so much that it has a global appeal. Place value on what you do and don’t let your environment dictate your value. You must go all out to succeed.

  • Constant Begging: Lazy people are often comfortable with begging for things from other people. Begging demeans your creativity and dignity. It is best to channel that creativity used for begging to create something great. Whenever you beg for something, a part of your dignity goes away, and it dies totally after a while of constant begging. The earlier you find a dignified way to make money, the better for you. Life will make a mess of you when you refuse to work and decide to beg. There is something within you that upholds your dignity, begging kills you slowly. The bible in Psalm 37: 25 says â€œI have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”.

Spiritual laziness is what some people experience. Many people think spirituality is not practical. The spiritual is the foundation of everything. Laziness is your unwillingness to use the resources available to you to make changes to situations around you. If you are not making tangible progress in your life, it means that you are not drawing enough from the resources available to you by virtue of your relationship with God.

Spirituality is not for Pastors only. Spiritual resources are at our disposal to make changes in our lives. The bible in Proverbs 13: 23 â€œMuch food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment”. You have many spiritual resources to leverage on, you need to have a revelation of the word and make use of the resource available in the kingdom.

The bible says in Romans 1:17 â€œFor in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, [a] as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”. Faith is one of the valuable resources available at our disposal. You need to develop your faith because situations will come sooner or later to test your faith. When you leverage on faith you will enter a place of rest.

Another spiritual resource available to us that lazy people do not utilize is Prayer. Some people mis-appropriate prayers, they pray for what God asked them to do and do what God asked them to pray about. Prayer is a valuable tool at the disposal of Christians to change the outcome of our lives every day.  If you do not pray there are too many things that can come up in the day and circumvent Gods purpose for your life. Pray ahead and align your day’s outcome with God’s plans in the place of prayer.
